Why? Especially with the auto bailout you would think at least Obama would be the sunbeam kid.

The bailout of the auto industry had little to do with saving Jobs. FACT many GM, Chrysler, & Ford Products are made in Canada, some in Mexico yet others like my Pontiac GTO in Australia.  The bailout was about the Union keeping the machine that props up would be candidates in office. The by-product was some folks jobs were saved, but make no mistake that was a collateral saving not the main intent.

CBO: Obamacare Will Spend More, Tax More, and Reduce the Deficit Less Than We Previously Thought

Pressed:  7/27/2012 @ 1:30AM
Daniel Botelho:  I have come to have a contempt for the CBOs calculations which always seem to be off and consistently need revision. It’s calculation on the ACA is no exception. This article highlights the ever-increasing cost of the legislation which honestly I believe will not truly be known until the bills are incurred. The second point this article indirectly make is the need for the CBO to publish its calculations for these and all other costs of legislation. We deserve transparency in our legislative processes and should demand nothing less from any government office commenting on said legislation.

2nd Amendment Rights Infringed?!

AURORA, Colo. (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - At least 13 people have been killed, and dozens more wounded, after a gunman opened fire inside of a suburban Denver movie theater early Friday morning. The incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. Dallas time at the Cinemark Century theater in Aurora, Colorado.

Last night as individuals went to a movie theatre to enjoy the movie Batman The Dark Knight Rises a gun men entered the theatre and open fire on the crowd in the theatre. The loss of life and injury is surreal and incomprehensible. My prayers and condolences go out to the injured and family members of those who have passed away.

I as many call for a complete forensic investigation on the perpetrator, we must not use the deranged act of an individual as an excuse to infringe on our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. I have many questions including: Did the perpetrator own the firearms legally, If not where, when , how, did he get them. A very high number of violent crimes involving firearms are done so with stolen and  Illegal black market guns. In these crimes the possession of the illegal fire arm is usually the lesser of the charges; I move that we enforce the laws on the books in regards to possession of an illegal firearm and get serious on tracking and holding folks who do business in the black market for firearms as accessories to the crime.

I would push that we encourage legal ownership, keeping license/permit renewals fees low while making penalties  for position and trafficking egregious. We will never take all illegal guns out of circulation but we can make it that much harder to get one.

Is this Kicking the can down the road?

On the afternoon of July 9th, I listened to Gov. Chris Christie describe economic advisers theme for the past decade of being: take care of the bare minimum  to get your self reelected and leave the rest for another te…rm or the other guy. It was ironic that not even an hour later President Obama came on with his plan for cutting taxes for the middle class by extending the Bush Era tax cuts but only for people making under 250k.

The President went on further to explain that we should at least get done things that we agree on, leave the rest for debate on a latter date. Since we all agree that the middle class can not afford to have a tax increase, “we can pass that immediately”, he surmised.

Although,  I know none of the families and or single middle class Americans in my district and around the country can afford a tax increase either, it seems that President Obama just punted the tax problem to the 113th Congress with this. A task I will take head on as the Congressman for my district.

That being said my major issue with this strategy is as Governor Christie suggested about politicians today listening to political advisers rather than economic. President Obama is doing the same here, earlier in the year his own jobs council stated that in order for the country to climb out of this recession we need to fix our tax code now. I categorically disagree with the president on his 250k amount and 97% of small business would see a decrease in taxes. Just like the AMT when it was created in its inception not indexed to inflation; I do not think Obama is factoring in the earning potential of small business and that unfortunately 250k isn’t a lot of money with respect to a business.

Putting aside the fact that I am a fair tax advocate this strategy does nothing to streamline our tax code, it keeps in place cuts and deductions picking winners and losers within the middle-class, while endangering our job creators the small businesses around the country.

Mr. President please work with Congress and get the job done right. Do not use election year politics to duck the issue. It is pivotal for our economy and families that the tax code be fixed ASAP.

Why am I running?!

After much thought and with the support of family and friends I have decided to run for the 9th Congressional Seat for the United States House of Representatives here in Massachusetts. My credentials in financial analysis and economics are an asset that given our current economic state is very much-needed in Washington. Friends describe me as Fiscal Conservative while being socially moderate. I am a registered Independent voter, not because I cannot decide what party’s ideologies I relate too. But because I truly believe, it is the candidate’s character, content of message, and follow through on issues that define a person’s worthiness for public service.

In the short time we have until the November Election, I will be focusing on key issues affecting District 9. True Tax Reform encompassing a real jobs bill (HR 25/ Fair Tax), a Balanced Budget, Reduced Spending, Ending the continued bailouts of Fannie and Freddie Mac, Entitlement Reform, Term Limits for Elected Officials in Congress, Responsible Gun Ownership, Responsible Energy policy that encourages research and development to lower our dependence on foreign sources of energy , as well as common sense environmental protection so that the air we breathe the water we drink and the oceans we fish are as clean as God intended.

I come to you my fellow citizens with a pledge to be your representative, to steer clear of the partisan rhetoric, and the childish finger-pointing that has brought our legislative process to a standstill. I cannot promise to single handily bring prosperity back to our Country, I can only promise to loudly echo your voice, your concerns, and vote in my constituencies best interest. Help me send our message to the United States Congress.
